In Kevadia we visited the Statue of Unity; the tallest statue in the world, at 182m high.
Completed in 2018, the statue is of Sardar Patel who led the INC in the fight for India's independance. It's an engineering feat- a steel armature and also clad in recycled steel. Inside you can take a lift about 2/3rds of the way up to a viewing deck.
Pink electric tuk-tuks all driven by women ferry you up to the statue site from the car park if you don't fancy the bus.
Then it was on to Ahmedabad. We stopped to see Ghandi's first ashram.(After his return to India from South Africa.)
We are staying at Mani Mansion Hotel. We had the best aloo masala dosa for dinner. We love the food but it's vegetarian only here and even fresh veggies are not served in abundance; just a small part of the dish. I am trying to eat paneer whenever I can but we are lethargic and our muscles ache. We are missing our non-restrictive diet! At least we can make our own coffee.
