Tuesday. We checked into Cohort Koukaki, Athens and after a bit of a rest we were out and about exploring our neighbourhood. Koukaki is very central but not at all touristy like Plaka. We loved the independant shops and coffee bars. We enjoyed drinks at few outdoor bars like To Patari and dinner with locals at Kalyvas.
Wednesday.Good coffee from Loco. Uber is fantastic around Athens. Fast and cheap, using yellow cabs, no independant cars. At the Acropolis for a 10am timed ticket. It's crowded and hot but quite amazing.
We visiting Varvakios Market and surrounding Monastiraki.
Wonderful coffee at Sparkles.
We strolled through the Plaka district.
En Aithria is a good stop if you like beer.
By 3.30pm we were learning about Greek wine at Wine Tasting Athens.
Then cocktails at Line, voted best bar in Europe 2026.
Athens has an amazing bar scene by the way. Food,drinks, coffee and cakes could keep you busy in Athens for months. Back to Koukaki for a late dinner at Thomas Tavern. A bit more to touristy with prices to match.
