Zimzam 2024 : Part 5 : Five nights on a Houseboat on Lake Kariba

26 to 30 August
One of the most quintessential African experiences; this is a highlight of any trip in Zimbabwe.
A few days earlier we had a message from Karibahouseboats.com to say our boat Unique had engine problems so we were to be on Malachite instead. This larger boat proved to be fabulous. Solar power with generator back up, drinks fridges, large ice maker and air conditioned, en-suite cabins.
Stocking the bar..
And a jacuzzi on the upper deck...
The staff were amazing. Captain Darlington, chef Tino, Andrew and Admire.
Meals were delicious!
We had 2 tender boats in tow for fishing and game viewing excursions morning and evening.
Lots of time to relax and also party a bit!
Every afternoon we moored in a different bay.
The lake is teeming with hippos and crocs and the bird life is abundant.
We had lots of sightings of elephant, impala and baboon as well as zebra, warthog, kudu and vultures on a kill.
