EUROPE 2024 : Pamplona

Sunday 2 to Monday 3 June
One of the main Camino de Santiago routes heads West from Pamplona through Rioja and beyond. While driving we tried to pick up the route where we could, albeit driving in the opposite direction.
At Irache there's a beautiful monestry and the Bodega Irache has a fountain of free wine flowing for Pilgrims on the route.
Pamplona is great. On Plaza de Castillo we wiled away a bit of time at Cafe Iruna; hanging out like Hemingway. It's fun to wander the streets, stopping for drinks and tapas along the way. ( this is becoming a trend in Spain)
And then hanging out all afternoon watching French Open tennis in a bar.
Rather than a "running of the bulls " experience, we had a wonderful "eating of the bulls" at Asador Olaverri. Best steak you'll ever eat, cooked to perfection on an open fire. Washed down with quite a few bottles of Navarra red wine. This travelling life is good!
