SOUTH AMERICA 2024 :MAULE AND CASABLANCA WINE REGIONS

Tuesday 20th February
After breakfast it was back across the lake to the car. A full day of driving the scenic route through the lake district to Villarica, a busy lakeside resort.
We wandered around town looking for a good place for dinner. An unsucessful quest! (Like walking around Margate KZN expecting Campsbay!)
Wednesday 21st February
Probably the best breakfast buffet of the trip so far..perhaps we should have stayed at the hotel for dinner at the rooftop terrace!
Another day of driving north to the central vallies wine region - Maule Valley to be exact. Casa Bouchon is an amazing historic boutique hotel on the Bouchon winery. A beautiful room and another huge bed! We enjoyed a late afternoon wine tasting and more wine with dinner.

Thursday 22 February
Casablanca Valley
Another day of driving north. To Casablanca Valley, another wine region, South West of Santiago. Once again we realise wine tourism in Chile is just not what we are used to in South Africa. Our BnB host warns us that Chileans don't do dinner out midweek and we are the only customers at Taberna La Breva. And so another early night.
Friday 23 February
We popped in for coffee at Vina Casas del Bosque, another winery on the" best in the world" list. (We aren't wine tasting because of the driving.)
