Sunday 31 May and Thursday 4th June
Venissa is a very interesting winery on Mazzorbo Island. 20 years ago they resurrected an old Venetian grape varietal called Dorona and are producing some prized wines. There's a hotel at the winery as well as a Michelin starred restaurant specializing in locally grown and lagoon sourced foods. So we booked. They send a speed boat to pick you up from central Venice which sounds very exclusive but was overcrowded with 12 guests and a dog. The canopy was closed due to a threat of rain so Fred, Terri and I had flapping plastic hitting our heads for the 40+ minute ride. The island was beautiful, the wine was good, the food weirdly interesting and the ride home more comfy.
On Thursday we all caught the vaporetto out to Murano for lunch at my favourite local, local La Perla restaurant.
