USA 2025 : LAFAYETTE, LO

Thursday 6 March
We met up with Fred and Terri, our roadtrip companions and picked up our rental SUV. Heading out of New Orleans we spied the Tic Toc Cafe with a Dali theme ( sort of ) and took a Southern breakfast stop of biscuits, gravy, pancakes and coffee.
Our second detour took us over Lake Pontchartrain via the longest causeway in America. We enjoyed driving through rural Louisiana and the Bayou with another spontaneous stop for a lunch of fried chicken at Leaders in Maurepas ,LA.
Lafayette is a very sleepy city. We stayed at BnB Maison Mouton, a traditional antebellum house in central Layayette. With no Cajun or Zydeco music on offer anywhere, we found good live rock music at the "Rock n Bowl". A poor turnout of about 20 of us in a cavernous hall didn't curb the band's enthusiasm at all!
The next morning we stopped in at Vermilionville; an outdoor museum focused on the indigenous tribes from the area.
I found it a bit contrived; I'm not fan of cultural tourism.
