Venice is my favourite city in Europe. If you think it's too touristy or too crowded it's because you don't know where to stay- we love the back streets of Cannareggio - or where to hang out - avoid St. Mark's Square and Rialto altogether!
We have our favourite restaurants and bars and we always find something new... this time our new finds included Bar Vinile close to our apartment.
And Trattoria alla Palazzina. When the menu is in Italian only and the other diners are local labourers... Great homemade pasta... and there's no rush... There's also a stunning garden out back if you want to dine under the shade of the trees. And it's not that far from the station...
Our other usual restaurant favourites were Stellata Anise, Paradiso Perduto, La Perla on Murano and Antico Dolo.
Drinks at Hotel Danelli.
More drinks..
We're still planning to live here for a while one day.. and have our own little boat to get around...
(You aren't allowed to leave trash out and there are no dumpsters in Venice so everyday at 10am the bin guys knock on the door to collect trash and recycling. The hottest Italian bin man ever..George Clooney look alike but more friendly..)
