Lake Malawi
Norman Carr Cottage
We spent 4 nights camping at Norman Carr Cottage on Lake Malawi, a few kilometres south of Monkey Bay.
We made ourselves quite at home in the beachside living area as there were only two other guests there.
Taffy and Leonie are just such lovely hosts. We did a boat trip and a sunset cruise on the lake.
One day we drove to Cape McClear and had lunch at Fat Monkeys which we all enjoyed.
Oh, what a disappointment Cape McClear has become. A crowded, littered settlement that has lost it's laid-back, beachy vibe completely. It's sad.
The population of Malawi has doubled from 10 to 20 million in just 25 years. In 1963, my birth year, the population was 3,8 million. Our earth cannot sustain 8+ billion humans. We have to stop having children and this is true for high-consuming developed countries as much as in the developing world.
Nevertheless it's a humbling priviledge to travel in Malawi watching roadside life and economic activity as we trundle by. Travel is the best way to learn about your world and more importantly about yourself.
