EUROPE 2024 : BARCELONA

Thursday 6 June.
A long drive, a late lunch in camp and into town by Uber to stroll around the Gothic Quarter. La Rambla and Mercat de la Boqueria are far too crowded, tacky and touristy.
Dinner at historic Les Caracoles. Yes, it's touristy but they serve the best roast chicken you'll ever eat.
Friday 7 June
A late start for us while the others did the touristy bits. We spent most of the afternoon in The Old Irish Pub watching French Open Tennis. Happy as...
La Raval is a more local and authenic neighbourhood and we enjoyed 360 Rooftop Bar, historic Bar Marcella, cool Distrito V and tapas for dinner at street cafe Pallisanto.
Saturday 8 June
Sagrada Familia was completely over run with tourists.
We strolled down Passeig de Gracia, enjoyed people watching from a street cafe. Still too many tourists. Lines of people waiting to enter almost every high end brand store. To shop? Or just for Insta pics?
The Bullman ( back in the LaRaval area) is a great local pub we found to watch URC rugby.
And back to Distrito V and dinner at Casa Leopoldo. A mistaken reservation ( not by me ) meant we turned up at 7pm for dinner.
That's 2 to 3 hours before normal Spanish dinner time! It did give us a chance for last drinks together back at Distrito V, though. Time to say goodbye to Larry and Jean.
Oh, Barcelona.. over the years I've really  tried to make you one of my favourites but somehow I'm always left a little underwhelmed. Perhaps next time we need to stay longer and delve deeper to find that extra something!
