EUROPE 2024 : LASCAUX : Walking in the Footsteps of our Ancestors

Saturday 25 May
Les Eyzies,Dordogne
There are so many quaint villages in France and Les Eyzies has the added advantage of having a campsite within walking distance.
We came here specifically to visit Lascaux.
In the 1940s, extensive cave art dating back over 20000 years was discovered in a cave in this area.
Tourist access to the cave caused damage to the paintings so it was closed in the 60s. A museum was built instead and then in 2016 a complete replica of the cave was opened to the public. It's an amazing place to visit.
The nearby town of Montignac- Lascaux is quaint but touristy but even so we did while away a few pleasant hours in a little bistro as we love to do.
Another French favourite of mine is Cafe Gourmand...A plate of three of four miniture desserts served with an expresso!

EUROPE 2024 : MUNICH, MAGDEN AND INTO FRANCE

Monday 20th to Wednesday 22nd May
Munich to  Magden.. we are back roadtripping Europe in Homer, our old campervan en route to France and Spain.
Just a little bit of time to catch up with friends. We are travelling with Stephen and Vivienne again this year.
Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th May
Leaving Switzerland, we were soon in Alsace. We loved our visit to the National Autombolie Museum in Mulhouse. This is the biggest car museum in the world!
Then we went grocery shopping in E.Leclerc. France has the best supermarkets in the world!
We spent the night in Meursault in the heart of Burgundy. Delicious wines from the Bar/Tabac and good food at Bistro Les Artes.
Can you tell I'm already excited to be back in France?
Friday was a long day of driving down to Les Eyzies in Dordogne.
We always ask locals for restaurant recommendations and so of course we had a great meal at La Louna in town.
The weather has been cool and a bit rainy at times but being just out of season means things are not too busy.

A Weekend at Maizefield Farm

Friday 17th to Sunday 19th May..
Fun and nostalgia; this place has its own little place in each of our hearts..

Tuli Wilderness Safari, Botswana

Friday 3 May to Tuesday 7 May
Mohave Bush Camp in Northern Tuli is the best kept secret...( shh.. don't tell anyone..)
It's not too far to drive from Johannesburg and the Platjan Border Post is usually very quiet. We are here to celebrate Hanlie's 60th!
Mohave is a private camp for 10 guests, with catered or self-catering options.
On our first evening game drive we are very spoilt with a wonderful leopard sighting.
There are two female lions with seven cubs between them in our area. We have found them every day. It's bit and dry so lots of animals are coming to our waterhole to drink.
On our last night we enjoyed the bush dinner as always.
