Amazing Family Safari in Botswana August 2022 : Part 1

Day 1 Wednesday 17 August 2022
Johannesburg to Groblersbrug border post.
Stop for lunch at The Koffiekan in Modimolle.

We like to stay at Klippan Lodge on the South African side and have a lekker braai in the evening.

You can also cross the border and overnight at Kwa Nokeng on the Botswanan side of the Limpopo River.

Day 2 Thursday 18 August 2022
Cross the border early and head to Palapye.
The border crossing dos and don'ts aren't covered in this post.. you'll have to brush up on this boring yet vital info before you go..

Stop to stock up on veggies, meat and drinks and to get everyone in the family SIM cards and data. A spare phone with a hotspot is ideal.

Food stops and take-aways aren't always convenient in Botswana so we plan for picnic stops and "padkos" - snacks for the car. Always have lots of drinking water with you.

Arrive at Elephant Sands as early as possible. We love this place. Spend the evening enjoying drinks on the deck for close encounters with the ellies.

These herds and groups are wild and trek daily for kilometres through the arid wilderness to the only water source in the area.
